Ewe a day - Itasca

I used to have a tradition of posting a short paragraph each fall on each of the ewes we planned on retaining that year. As the flock grew, however, time was in short supply and I got away from it. This year, I am going to attempt to do it again as our flock has turned over since the last time.

I will start with the older ewes and work my way through the flock based on age.

Wintertime Itasca took last year off of breeding, but we are going to work her back in this year as we try to add more fine blacks to our flock. Itasca has produced outstanding offspring which is why she is still here. She is nine now, so this may be our last breeding season for her. She is our largest ewe.
